Charles D. Chuck Boltz, Jr, lifelong resident of Greenwood, passed away on Monday, October 27th, 2014. Born to Charles D. Boltz, Sr. and Hilda (Zschiedrich) Boltz on August 31st, 1929 in White River Township, Chuck was proud to say he lived in the Greenwood area his whole life. He married Dortha Sue (Bodine) Boltz on May 11, 1952 at Mt. Auburn United Methodist Church in Stones Crossing, Greenwood; she survives. After graduating from Center Grove High School in Johnson County in 1947, Mr. Boltz attended General Motors Institute in Flint, Michigan and served in the US Air Force during the Korean Conflict. After graduating from Purdue University, Mr. Boltz was a career electrical engineer with RCA Corporation and was awarded 13 patents and the David Sarnoff award for engineering excellence. Mr. Boltz enjoyed music, was active in SPEBSQSA, enjoyed Barbershop Quartet singing and served as choir director at Mt. Auburn United Methodist Church in Greenwood, Indiana for many years.Mr. Boltz is survived by his wife, Dortha Sue (Bodine) Boltz of Indianapolis, Indiana; two sons, Steve Boltz (Martha) of Indianapolis and Dr. Scott Boltz (Jayne) of Greentown, Indiana; six grandchildren, Jonathan Boltz of Indianapolis, Suzanne Collins (Jon) of Indianapolis, Rebecca Hite (Brent) of Plano, Texas, Dr. Laura Stage (Kevin) of Fishers, Indiana, David Boltz of Indianapolis and Nathan Boltz of Carmel, Indiana; three great-grandchildren, Emmarie Collins, Noah Stage and Lily Collins; a brother-in-law, Clifton Smith of Greenwood; and a sister-in-law, Runay Boltz of Lynn Haven, Florida. Mr. Boltz was preceded in death by his parents, Charles & Hilda Boltz of Greenwood, Indiana and his siblings, Leda Mae Smith and Julian Boltz.Dr. J. Wesley Hertel will conduct a service at 10:30 A.M. on Monday, November 3, 2014 at Mt. Auburn United Methodist Church, 3100 W. Stones Crossing Road in Greenwood, Indiana. Friends may call on Sunday, November 2, 2014 from 2 P.M. until 5 P.M. at Swartz Family Community Mortuary and Memorial Center, 300 S. Morton Street (US 31) in Franklin, Indiana and on Monday from 9:30 A.M. until the time of service at the church. Entombment with military honors will be at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in Greenwood. Dortha Sue (Bodine) Boltz, 87 recently residing at Westminster Village North, Indianapolis, IN and formerly of Greenwood, IN. passed away on Wednesday, April 3, 2019. Born to Harry Eugene "Gene" Bodine and Eva "Louise" (Nebeker) Bodine on December 19, 1931 in Covington, IN. Sue married Charles D. "Chuck" Boltz on May 11, 1952 at Mt. Auburn United Methodist Church in Stones Crossing, Greenwood, IN. where she had been a member. After graduating from Center Grove High School in Johnson County in 1950, Mrs. Boltz worked in administration for the insurance industry and Air Force during the Korean Conflict. She later graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Indianapolis, formerly Indiana Central College, and with honors in a Masters of Education program from Indiana University. She taught first grade at Center Grove Elementary School for 15 years. Mrs. Boltz participated in several civic, church, and Christian women's organizations, enjoyed square dancing, singing in the church choir and an active social life with many lifelong friends. Mrs. Boltz is survived by her two sons Steve Boltz (Martha) of Indianapolis, IN., Dr. Scott Boltz (Jayne) of Greentown, IN., six grandchildren Jonathan Boltz of Indianapolis, IN., Suzanne Collins (Jon) of Indianapolis, IN., Rebecca Hite (Brent) of Fishers, IN., Dr. Laura Stage (Kevin) of Kokomo, IN., David Boltz (Jacqui) of Fishers, IN, and Nathan Boltz (Kayla) of West Lafayette, IN., five great grandchildren Emmarie Collins, Noah Stage, Lilah Hite, Isaac Stage, and Audra Collins and a sister in law Runay Boltz of Lynn Haven, FL. She was preceded in death by her parents Gene and Louise (Nebeker) Bodine, husband Chuck Boltz, siblings Robert "Bob" Bodine, Martin "Bud" Bodine, James "Jim" Bodine, and a great granddaughter Lily Collins. The Reverend Jeff Buck will conduct a service on Saturday, April 13, 2019 at 11:30 A.M. at Swartz Family Community Mortuary and Memorial Center 300 South U.S. 31 (Morton Street) in Franklin, IN.
