There is a Horation R. Bodine who enlisted for the Union in Ohio on May 2, 1864. He was 40 and a first sargeant.
I did have his middle name as Gates.

1900 (7 June) Zanesville, Muskingum County: Annetta BODINE b. April 1821 OH wid. 9 children born/4 living; Mary b. Sept 1867 OH dau. school teacher.
On 5 Feb 1864, Horation R. Bodine, age 40, enlisted as 1st Sergeant and was mustered in on 9 May 1864 at Zanesville into Company D, 159th Ohio Infantry. He was mustered out 22 Aug 1864. On 7 March 1886, Annetta Bodine filed for a widow's pension which was granted under certificate 248486.
Horatio and Annette Bodine were buried in Williams Cemetery, Zanesville, Muskingum County.
