Notes for: Albert ("Bert") Webster Bodine, Sr.

His name in the 1860 Census of Vienna Twp., Genesee Co., MI is Albert. I have also seen it as Albertus. I had his birth date as August 3, 1856. RB has August 3, 1855. I'll go with that.

It looks like he is working on someone's farm at the time of the 1870 Census of Vienna in Genesee County, Michigan. He was fourteen years old and was born in Michigan. He was with family 347 (p. 40 and 41), but I didn't have all the Census to see who this was.

The following two paragraphs come from Marsha Richards' info at WorldConnect:

Albertus Webster Bodine, son of Mortimer and "Mariah" Bodine lost both his parents at a very young age. He was four years old when his mother died and six years old when his father was killed in the Civil War. He was raised by his Uncle (Mortimer's brother) Oakley Bodine and Oakley's wife Barbara.

He married Ella LaRae Weeks, September 28, 1877. According to the Recorded Marriage Information, Ella was born in Plymouth, Wayne, Michigan and Albertus was born in Pine Run, Genesee, Michigan. Albertus was a Motel Keeper. They were married by Rev. S.D. Davis and the witnesses were Golithu A. Patterson and Louise M. Weeks.

Ronny said her middle initial in their marriage record was "L."

From Ronny Bodine:

In June 1880, Albert Bodine lived in Day Township, Montcalm County, Michigan working as a shingle packer, in June 1900 in Pinconning, Bay County, Michigan, in April 1910 in Des Moines, King County, Washington and in Jan 1920 in Seattle, King County. In 1900, he reported that in 22 years of marriage his wife had borne 10 children of whom 5 were then living. In 1910, as manager of a shingle mill, he reported 4 of his 10 children were then living. In April 1930, Ella Bodine, a 73-year old widow, lived alone in Seattle.
