Notes for: Philip Striker Bodine
It is a guess so far, but it looks like Philip Bodine married a Lillian Sutton first. This marriage needs verification.
From Ronny Bodine:
From Philadelphia, Pennsylvania Marriage Records:
Philip S. Bodine AND Mary C. Maier were married in 1910.
Philip Bodine appears to have married Lillian E. Sutton about 1904 which marriage was of short duration. The Philadelphia death certificate of Ruth Sutton Bodine of Aug 1906 names her parents as Philip Bodine and Lillian E. Sutton, residents of 739 N. 42nd Street, Philadelphia. The records of the Oliver Blair Funeral Home also refer to a Carrie M. Sutton in relation to the burial of Ruth Bodine. The 1900 Philadelphia census lists Wm. R. Sutton with wife Carrie M. and a daughter Lillie E., aged 14, born Oct 1885 in Penn. Perhaps it was the death of their daughter which caused Philip and Lillian to divorce. The Philadelphia City Directory lists Philip Bodine as living alone and in 1910 Philip lived with his mother in Philadelphia and reported he was single, and Lillian lived with her parents 1910-1920 (aged 34 in 1920) in Philadelphia and reported she was single.
In 1910, Philip Bodine was living with his mother in Philadelphia and working as a barber. He registered for the World War I draft on 12 Sept 1918 in Philadelphia. In 1920, he and his family were residents of Philadelphia and Philip still worked as a barber. In 1930, the family lived in Lindenwold, Camden County, New Jersey and Philip worked as a auto repair shop mechanic. He registered for the World War II draft in 1942 as a resident of Lindenwold, Camden County and an employee of the Haddon Ice and Coal Company. Mary (Maier) Bodine was the daughter of William and Sophia Maier.
