Notes for: Samuel Bodine
I am guessing that this Samuel Bodine and Sarah Wallace are the same Samuel and Sarah named in the 1850 Census of Philadelphia (p. 429). In that Census, there was a Margaret Bodine living with them. I guess this was their daughter, based on the fact that she is again listed with Sarah in the 1860 Census. Samuel was a gunsmith.
In the 1860 Census, Samuel is not listed. Sarah is 59 and her occupation is a shoe binder. Margaret is 17. Both are listed as having been born in Delaware. That is different from the 1850 Census where both Sarah and Margaret were listed as having been born in Pennsylvania.
They are living near a lot of people with German names. Jan Alpert believes, probably correctly, that this Samuel is the son of Jacob and Mary (Pickel) Bodine. He may have been born about 1800 or so.
