Levi Bodine, born Aug. 30, 1794, died Mar. 17, 1843. Aged 48 y, 6 m, 17 d. Levi is on the same page as Campbell, Henry Feaster (1787) and wife Margaret (b. 1788). The next page has a Jacob Shipman, b. May 8, 1766, d. Feb 24, 1848. Jacob's wife was Rachel, born 1780, died 1838, aged 58 years. There are more Shipmans on this page. Several were born in NJ.

A couple pages later, however, Levi is listed as born August 30, 1797, died March 17, 1873. Is this the same person as above? It must be.

I don't know if this is the same Levi as this one, but it probably is. It makes more sense that he would have died in 1848, though, and not in 1873 (!?!) since his kids seem to be living with relatives in 1850.

According to the biography of Henry F. Bodine, Levi's son, Levi's grandfather was in the Revolutionary War. That might help narrow down who this was.

Here is an entry from Tombstone Inscriptions of Snyder County Compiled by G. W. Wagenseller, L.L.D. 1904:
Bodine, Mary C., d of Levi and Jane, b Feb 28, 1840; d Aug 31, 1854, aged 4 y 6 m 3 d.

Mary is buried in Wagenseller's Union Cemetery. This burying ground is located one half mile west of Selinsgrove, and while situated in Penn Township is largely a burial ground for the people of Selinsgrove.

From Ronny Bodine:

From "History of Luzerne Co, Pennsylvania, Part II: Biographical Sketches," by H. C. Bradsby, 1893, p. 723:
"Henry F. Bodine, a prominent citizen of Miners Mills, was born in Lower Augusta township, Northumberland Co, Pa., May 15, 1837, and is a son of Levi and Jane (Feaster) Bodine, respectively natives of Greene and Berks counties, Pa., and of French and German origin. In his father's family there were four children, three of whom are living, and of them Henry F. is the third."

From Pennsylvania Federal Census Records:
1820 (8 Aug) Whiteley, Greene Co.: Levi BODINE males 3(0-9), 1(26-44); females 2(0-9), 1(16-25).

The foregoing is likely Levi Burdine (1770-1825) who married Rebecca Fox (1794-1870) in 1812 and who had children Joseph F. (1812-1900/10), Charity Ann (1813-1893), Jane Jency (1817-1904) and James Milton (1820-1896) and Isaac (1824-1890), all reportedly born in Greene County, Penn. No other Levi Bodine or Berdine appears in the Pennsylvania censuses of 1830 or 1840 and clearly Levi was deceased before 1850 as two of his children, Margaret and Henry," were living with relatives in 1850. Margaret Bodine is found living with William Feaster and Henry Bodine is living with Isaac Feaster. Both were the sons of Henry Feaster (1787-1855) of Lower Augusta Township, Northumberland County and his wife Margaret Connell (1788-1843) whom he married in1809. Henry Feaster left a will and named six children, including William and Isaac, but made no mention of Lucinda as a deceased daughter or Bodine grandchildren.

There can be little doubt that Levi Bodine, father of Margaret and Henry Bodine, residents of Lower Augusta Township, is the same Levi Bodine buried in Mountain Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Lower Augusta Township with the dates of birth and death reading Aug. 30, 1794 and Mar. 17, 1843, aged 48 y, 6 m 17 d.
