Notes for: Samuel Laurence Bodine

The paper "Historical and Biographical Sketch of the Bodine Family" says he was a prominent industrialist and sportsman. He did not have any children.

Helen K. Bodine submitted a claim on 15 March 1948 and reported she was born 31 Aug 1881 in Elizabeth, NJ.

Samuel Bodine graduated from the University of Pennsylvania in 1885 with a B.A. President, Cohansey Glass Manufacturing Company, 1898-1904. In 1904, he sold control of the company to the American Window Glass Company, Pittsburgh, and served as the latter's chairman of the executive committee, 1905-1906. Vice-President, Jefferson Fire Insurance Company of Philadelphia until 1917. Samuel and Susanna Bodine were divorced in 1913. Helen (Koues) Bodine was the daughter of George Ellsworth and Mary Parmly (Toby) Koues. She was staff editor for the "Ladies Home Journal" 1909-1914; fashion editor "Vogue" 1914-1916; and associate editor "Good Housekeeping" from 1916. She was buried in the churchyard of Old St. David's Church, Radnor, Delaware County, Pennsylvania. See "Who's Who in Maryland," 1939, p. 82.

Susanna Hacker Bodine was buried in Laurel Hill Cemetery, Philadelphia.
