Here are some images of items sent to me by Kathy (Bodine) Tschoerner. She has many family photos and items passed down to her from her grandfather Virgil Claud Bodine.
And here is a eulogy that appears to be written up by Joseph himself, I'm guessing, before his death.
I first noticed that there was a Joseph D. Bodine who enlisted for the Union in Ohio on June 4, 1861. He was 20. This Joseph D. Bodine is also listed as one of the first volunteers from Wayne County, Ohio in the book "History of Wayne County, Ohio," page 750. I then noticed that there was a Joseph D. Bodine, born on the same date as this Joseph Bodine, who was buried in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Steuben County, Indiana. His stone there says that he was in the "4th & 16th O.V.I. (Ohio Volunteers?). I think it is safe to assume that this is Joseph D. Bodine.
In confirmation of this, I later found the following query at Ancestry.com:
Joseph Bodine

We are currently trying to establish burial info on vets of 4th Ohio Volunteer Infantry prior to rededication of memorial at Gettysburg. Joseph D Bodine is listed as dying in Lynn Haven, Florida on 10 Nov 1919 and being survived by his wife Angeline. Any info on burial location would be appreciated.
I wrote Kim Torgler about this and she answered with this:

Pension file card lists Joseph Bodine, (Co E, 4th OVI, Co C, 16th OVI, and Co A, 114th OVI) as dying 10 Nov 1919 at Lynn Haven, Florida. His widow (Angeline) is listed as filing for a pension in FLA on 3 Dec 1919. Application # 1149.353 and Certificate #882.290. Joseph Bodine had previously filed for an Invalid Pension 9 July 1878, Application # 258.146 and Certificate #302.806, where filed is not recorded. This isn't first time that burial location is in different state. Thanks, kim J torgler
His middle name came from Dot (dotnfl at juno.com). She said she had info on a Joseph Dennis Bodine "who lived in Lynn Haven, FL and was a member of the GAR, Grand Army of the Republic, a fraternal veteran's org. I believe he was one of the charter members, but am looking for that list now. I have an old photo from a newspaper of him in a group shot, not very good, of the Methodist Sunday School from about 1916."
From Ronny Bodine:
In June 1870, Joseph D. Bodine lived in Croton, Newaygo County, Michigan. In 1900, Joseph and Angeline Bodine lived in Steuben, Steuben County, Indiana. Joseph, who appears was unemployed, reported that in 33 years of marriage his wife had borne 2 children, but only one was then living. In 1910, J. D. and Angeline Bodine lived in Angola, Steuben County, Indiana. In 1920, Angelina Bodine, age 71 and widowed, lived with her son Allen in Lynn Haven, Bay County, Florida. Joseph and Angeline Bodine were buried in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Steuben County where Joseph's gravestone notes he served in the 4th & 16th O.V.I.

Obituary, Steuben Republican (Angola, Ind.) of 30 Sept 1925.
Angeline Carlin Bodine was born in Richland township, Steuben county, Ind., on the 7th day of June, 1848, and died at the home of her sister, Ellen Willoughby, at Metz, Sept. 24, 1925, at the age of 77 years, 3 months and 17 days. She was the youngest of a family of thirteen children, having seven brothers and five sisters, three of whom, Ellen Willoughby, Elizabeth Kellogg and John Carlin, survive. She was the daughter of Robert Carlin and Sarah Perkey Carlin. She received her education in the schools of Richland township. She was united in marriage to Joseph Bodine March 18, 1867, with whom she lived happily until his death some five years ago. Two children were born to this union, one, dying in infancy. The other, Allen Bodine, lives in Kansas City, Mo.
She was a capable, industrious woman. Soon after the marriage the family moved to Lisbon, Kent county, Mich., moving from there to Fairbury, Neb. In 1890 the family moved to Oklahoma, living there until 1907 when Mr. and Mrs. Bodine came to Angola. For the last 15 years Mrs. Bodine has lived in Lynn Haven, Fla., coming to Steuben county every summer to visit her brothers and sisters and nephews and neices. She was devoted to her home. She labored unceasingly for her folks. She leaves to mourn her loss, her son, Allen, his wife, Lulu, the four grandchildren, Edith Campbell, Alberta Williamson, Cecil Bodine and Virgil Bodine, three great-grandchildren and more than three score of nephews and neices.
She was helpful to those in need. No one asked of her in vain. No night was too dark, no day too drear for her where sickness and misfortune came to others. She was stricken while taking care of her aged sister. She had delayed going to Florida that she might be of service to Aunt Ellen in her sickness. Hers was a life of helpfulness. She lived to help others. Her memory will abide in the hearts of the many folks who knew and loved her so well. Funeral services were conducted at the Metz Church of Christ on Saturday, Sept. 26, at 2 p.m., by Elder J. O. Rose, of Angola, and the burial was in the Bodine family lot of the Mt. Pleasant cemetery there.
***End of info.

Thanks, Betty Glenn
I did have an infant son for Joseph and Angeline Bodine buried at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Steuben Co., IN who was born March 15, 1868 and died March 16, 1868; however, that date clashes with their son Allen's date of birth. RB did not have the infant listed.
