John William Bodine registered for the World War I draft on 8 June 1917 in Bryan County. He reported he was born 13 July 1893 in Ravena, Texas, worked as a farmer and was married with one child.
1930 Durant, Bryan Co., OK: J. W. BODINE 36 TX laborer-road building, Martha 34 OK wife, Jessie 13 OK son, Mary H. 10 OK dau, Loyd 6 OK son.
1940 Durant, Bryan Co., OK: John BODINE 47 OK concrete mixer, Eunice 45 OK wife, Lloyd 16 OK son. Residence on 1 April 1935: Same place.
On 15 April 1942, John William Bodine of Durant, Oklahoma, registered for the World War II Draft. He reported he was born 13 July 1893 in Ravenna, Texas and named Mrs. M. A. Grant of Bokchito, Oklahoma as next of kin.

Funeral services were held at Holmes Funeral home chapel at 2:30 this afternoon for Mrs. John Bodine, aged 56, who died at her home, 314 NE 2nd avenue, Sunday night. She had been ill for several years. Services were conducted by O.J. Russell, Church of Christ minister, and burial was in Highland cemetery. Pallbearers were Mark Ladd, Pete Collins, Marshall Brown, Cecil Maxey, Edgar Dees and George Whitfield. Mrs. Bodine was born at Kirby Ark, March 11, 1897, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jess Aristrom. She had been a resident of Durant for 30 years and was a member of the Church of Christ. The deceased is survived by her husband, two sons, Jess Elmer and William Bodine, Durant; a daughter, Mrs. Clara Newkirk, Lockney, Texas; eight grandchildren, one brother and four sisters.
Note: The above obituary mistakenly names her father as Jess Aristrom, but in the 1900 census of Pike County, Arkansas, Martha E. Holder, born March 1896, is the daughter of Jess A. & Stella H. Holder. Jesse Armstrong Holder (1866-1941) and Stella Helen Tolleson (1871-1950) were married in 1891 and are buried in Highland Cemetery.

Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Holmes Chapel for John Bodine, 76, who died Monday in a local hospital. Bodine, a retired farmer, had lived in Bryan county since 1900 having moved here from Fannin county, Texas. He was a member of the Church of Christ. He was married to Eunice Holder in 1910 who died in 1953. He is survived by two sons: Jess and Lloyd, both of Durant; one daughter, Mrs. Clive Newkirk of Durant and one sister: Mrs. Inez Grant of Durant. Brother George Goldman will officiate with burial in Highland cemetery. Pallbearers will be Walter Grimmett, Jack Jerigan, Julius Wagoner, Ray Wagoner, Raymond Hunnicutt and Mark Ladd. Holmes Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
