Notes for: James ("Jimmie") D. Bodine

One LDS record said he was born in Newcomerstown, Tuscarawas, Ohio. I did have his name as possibly "Henry," but he was named James in the 1860 and 1870 Censuses of Washington, Coshocton Co., OH. RB also has him as James D. Bodine.

From Benton County, Arkansas Marriage Records:
James D. Bodine, 38, of Gentry AND Rosie McCurley, 17, of Gentry, were married 15 March 1908.

In 1920, James and Nancy Bodine lived in Flint, Benton County, Arkansas where James was employed as a jewelry repairman. James and Nancy divorced and in June 1921 she married George Albert Stephenson with whom she was living along with her daughter Fern Bodine in El Dorado, Benton County, Arkansas in 1930. George Stephenson died in 1948 and in 1950 she married John Jones.

J. D. (Uncle Jimmie) Bodine, 77 years old, died at the home of his brother, Adam Bodine, in Quanah, last Friday, about 1 o'clock. Surviving are a daughter, Fern Bodine of Maysville, Ark., a brother, J. W. Bodine, Gentry, Ark., a sister, Mrs. Sarah E. Stewart, of Coshhocton, Ohio, and the brother living at Quanah. Funeral services were held by the Rev. C. W. Foote and interment was in the Quanah cemetery.---Quanah (Tex.) Tribune-Chief, Oct. 7, 1930. J. W. Bodine returned to Gentry last Saturday morning, having been called to Quanah to attend the funeral of the brother, whose death, occurred as above. "Uncle Jimmie" will be remembered by a host of the citizens of Gentry, the departed one having been well-known here. The daughter, Miss Fern, of Maysville, accompanied J. W. Bodine to Quanah for the funeral.
