Here is the gravestone for Philinda Bodine. It may read "Philinda Bodine, Wife of Abram Bodine, DIED May 13, 1876 (or 1878), Aged 68 yrs & ?? mos." That death date might not be right. The stone is hard to read. I have a death date of Jan 7, 1884 from the biography of Simon King her second husband. Notes from an obit in Abraham's notes may say she died January 22, 1882. Ronny Bodine says County Death Records say she died August 7, 1884. I'll go with that. Her ages given in the 1850 and 1880 Censuses seem to put her birth year at either 1815 or 1816. And I have from some source that she died at age 68 yrs, 2 mo, and 20 days. I don't know where that came from. The 68 years at age of death would mean she died in either 1883 or 1884. If we go with a death date of August 7, 1884 at age 68, 2, 20, then her birth date is about May 18, 1816. All these dates need more research.
I've seen her name as both Philenda and Philinda. Someone has said that it is always Philinda in the records. I'll go with that for now. She is in the household of her second husband, Simon King, in the 1880 Census of Genesee, MI. She is 64 and born in NY. Both her parents are listed as born in VT. Her name is given as "Filinda."
