They had ten children: seven boys and three girls. Helen was still alive (age 84) in April of 2002. Her son, Fr. Nicholas, said this, "In 1938 my mother Helen, at age 18, moved to Washington State, got a job, and then sent for her parents and siblings -- so most of my family now lives in the Pacific Northwest. That's where I was born and grew up. Now I'm here in Brookline Mass. (near Boston) at Holy Transfiguration Monastery. It's Greek Orthodox, though most of my family are still Roman Catholic."

A small correction:
Helen Bodine, daughter of Mark Bodine and Anna Tozcek, is my mother. My father spelled his surname with a "C", not a "K" -- thus we are Clinkingbeards.
I would be genuinely interested to know who submitted these listings. I am very happy to find them, because my mother is now 84 and her memory is not what it used to be. I doubt that she even knows about this site. She will likewise be pleased.

Rosary for William O. Clinkingbeard, 49, of Route 1, Buckley, will be said at 7:30 p.m. today in the Price-Helton chapel, Auburn. Requiem Mass will be said at 10 a.m. tomorrow at St. Aloysius' Church, Buckley, with burial in Washington Memorial Park. Mr. Clinkingbeard died Saturday in a Tacoma hospital of a heart ailment. A native of Seattle, Mr. Clinkingbeard lived in Federal Way from 1919 until 1965. He was a cook at Rose's Highway Inn near Midway 15 years and operated several restaurants, including the Green Parrot and the Blue Jay, both in Federal Way, and the Buckley Cafe. Mr. Clinkingbeard was a member of the Auburn Eagles and was a charter member of the Des Moines Veterans of Foreign Wars. A World War II Army veteran, he was a prisoner of war in Germany but escaped. He was awarded the Purple Heart. Surviving are his wife, Helen; seven sons, Mark and Bernard, both of Redondo, and Roger, Gregory, William D., Daniel and Randal Clinkingbeard, all at home; three daughters, Nancy Clinkingbeard, at home; Mrs. Kenneth Moulton, Buckley, and Mrs. Andre Molsee, Pullman; a brother, Glenn Clinkingbeard, Burien, and four sisters, Mrs. Howard Wills, Des Moines, and Mrs. Donald Stafford, Mrs. William Clark and Mrs. Esther Kinney, all of Bothell.

Helen L. Clinkingbeard Mother of 10 Mother passed away Monday April 20th at the age of 90. Born Oct. 7, 1918 in Timber Lake, South Dakota to Mark and Anna Bodine. She grew up riding horses to school when she didn't have to "walk barefoot because they only had one pair of shoes". When the dustbowl hit in 1937, mom "rode to Washington State on the fender of a coupe". She met Bill while working at the Green Parrot Inn and they married in 1941. Dad told her he wanted 4 kids and she said she would surprise him because she didn't want any. She is survived by 8 children; Mark (Kathy), Nadine Belieu (Jim), Susan Jacobsen (Bob), Father Nicholas-Roger, Greg, Nancy Mettler (David), Dan (Sheryle) and Randy. She was predeceased by husbands Bill Clinkingbeard and Wayne Smith, sons Bernie and Bill and brothers George and Jim Bodine. Also surviving are her sisters Lorraine Hine (Bill) and Marie Monaghan. She had 23 grandchildren and 35 great grandchildren. Mom said to say "I had a very interesting life" (including skydiving at 62). Rosary will be at 7 PM Friday April 24th at Weeks Funeral Home in Buckley, Funeral mass Saturday at 1:00 at St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Buckley and reception following at the Eagles Hall.
