Notes for: Rachel (Vanzant) Van Zandt

Her maiden name might well be Trimmer but probably not. RB says "There is no marriage record for a Rachel Trimmer marrying a VanZant in Hunterdon County. Maybe George Trimmer was her stepfather." This George Trimmer is mentioned in William's notes.

David,

You list Rachel Vanzant as being the daughter of Isaac and Elizabeth (?) Van Zandt. I am wondering if she might be the daughter of Isaac Van Zandt and Amy Savidge. Amy died before 1812 when Isaac married Elizabeth Roelofson. Isaac and Amy Van Zandt lived in Somerset Co., near the border of Hunterdon and had a daughter named Rachel around 1800. If this is the same Isaac Van Zandt, his first marriage may not have been known, so Elizabeth could have been assumed to be her mother.

There were several Isaac Van Zandts who lived in the area so this could be just a coincidence. I would be interested if you have any more information on Rachel's parents.

Thanks for your help.
