Funerals.
DORCAS HAUGHAWOUT, wife of Nicholas, died 18 Oct 1834; buried in the Dutch Church graveyard on the Northside.

From Richmond County, New York Land Records:
On 11 Jan 1809, Nicholas P. Haughwout of Castleton and his wife Dorcas sold land to Anthony Housman of the same place. Recorded 11 Jan 1809 and rerecorded 29 Sept 1831, Book T, p. 243.

On 6 March 1813, Nicholas P. Haughwout of Castle Town and his wife Dorcas sold land to Peter Houghwout, Jr. (Recorded 6 March 1813 in Deed Book G, p. 286).


On 16 May 1834, at the probate of the will of James Bodine, the following are named as heirs of his deceased daughter Dorcas Haughwout:
Tunis Haughwout, Cornelius Haughwout, Mary Haughwout; and minors John Haughwout, Nicholas Haughwout Jr.,
Tabitha Ann Haughwout and James Haughwout. [Note: None of the children were baptized at the Moravian Church.]
On 24 May 1834, Nicholas Haughwout was appointed guardian for the minor Haughwort children. (He being their father.)

From Richmond County Letters Testamentary, 2: 130.
14 May 1841. Nicholas Haughwout died 11 Feb 1841 at Castleton. Administration by son Tunis Haughwout of New York City. Bonds by John Bodine and John W. McDonald, both of New York City. On 11 May, widow Elizabeth Haughwout renounced her right to administer. Heirs at law are Nicholas, John, Mary, Tabitha Ann, Tunis, James.

Note: His widow, Elizabeth, was his second wife, the widow of Nicholas Van Name.
