Notes for: Williamson 'Cobb' Bodine

Cobb Bodine and his brother-in-law, B. V. Alexander, operated a cotton gin just off present day Cobb Road at a spring on the south end. He was a large property owner in the Suck Egg community in Brown's Valley. A receipt from E. R. Murray to W. C. Bodine for a tombstone for his mother, Mary Ann Bodine, dated April 9, 1887, has been located. It is from Morris Brothers in Memphis, Tennessee. It cost $27.75.

From Marshall County, Alabama Marriage Records:
1--Williamson C. Bodine AND Melzena Ramsay were married 4 Oct 1877 by Jas. M. Kelly, J.P. at the residence of Nancy Higgins.
2--W. C. Bodine AND Nancy A. Higgins were married 20 April 1887 by T. B. Bazles at widow Higgins's by J. B. Bazles.
3--W. C. Bodine AND Dora Holly were married 5 Nov 1905 by A. B. Brookshire, J.P. at "my house." [Note: On 8 Dec 1923 in South Guntersville Mrs. Dora Bodine married Charles C. Anderson with whom she was living 1930 in Albertville.]

Williamson Bodine reported his occupation as farmer in the Marshall County censuses of 1860-1920. In 1910, 'Cobb' and Frances Bodine were living in Marshall County with a 14-year old lodger. Cobb stated Frances was his 2nd wife, but she was actually his 3rd.

Will of Williamson Cobb Bodine, of Guntersville, Marshall County, dated 17 Jan 1922, names beloved wife Adora, son Verner Lafayette and daughter Minnie Maud, and four grandsons Horace, Pettus, Lafayette and Robert Deerman. Friend Dr. P. B. Lusk is appointed executor. Proved 2 March 1922.

William Cobb Bodine, husband of Dora Holly Bodine, son of Bill & Mary (Duran) Bodine, died 8 Feb 1922 in Gunterville, Marshall County, aged 63 years and was buried at Brown's Creek.
Dora Anderson, wife of C. C. Anderson, dau. of Jim Holley, died 26 March 1935 in Albertville, Marshall County, aged 56 years.
