Notes: Joseph W. Colkitt Dies... Joseph W. Colkitt, one of Mount Holly's aged and Highly-respected citizens, died at the Burlington County Hospital on Monday morning, after having been a patient in the institution only about one day. He was in his eighty-fifth year, and except for infirmities due to his age, had been in fair health until recently when he became troubled with a bladder ailment. A few days before his death this became acute and he was removed to the hospital on Sunday. A few hours later he was seized with a hemmorrhage and the end came. Most of the lifetime of the deceased was spent in the flour and feed business in Mount Holly, both in the capacities of clerk and owner. At one time he operated the old grist mill on Mill street where for several years previously he had been engaged as miller and clerk under former managements. His last position in this business was at the mill of Fenimore Brothers on Grant street, from which he retired a few years ago. Aside from his business activities, Mr. Colkitt's life was one of usefulness in the community. He was a man of upright character, and for many years had been a deacon of the First Baptist church of which he had been a member and one of its staunch supporters for over sixty years. For thirty years he was also the superintendent of the Sunday school. While never holding political office, he served faithfully for several terms as a member of the Northampton Board of Education, and at the time of his death was secretary emeritus of Mount Holly, Lodge No.14, F. & A.M., this being created by the lodge when he retired from the secretaryship, in which he had given many years of service. He was also affiliated with Mount Holly Lodge of Odd Fellows. The deceased is survived by one daughter, Miss Lily B. Colkitt, residing at home. The remains of the deceased were viewed by many friends on Wednesday night , at which time Masonic funeral rites were held at his late home on Madison avenue, the funeral service taking place there yesterday afternoon. Burial was made in Mount Holly cemetery.

From Ronny Bodine:
