Funeral services for Mrs. Margaret BoDine Carter, who died Thursday at her home, 3220 N.E. Thompson street, will bw Saturday at 10 a.m., at the J. P. Finley & Son funeral home, with private interment at the Portland Memorial. Mrs. Carter was born in Chicago March 24, 1904, and came to Portland in 1908 with her parents Dr. and Mrs. Charles BoDine. She was a graduate of Jefferson high school and Willamette university and a member of Pi Beta Phi sorority and the First Presbyterian church. Survivors include her widower, Dr. Filmer W. Carter; a daughter, Elizabeth Carter, Portland, and two sons, Peter B. Carter, Corvallis, and Charles Carter, Portland.

Filmer W. Carter, a Portland physician who was a member of the Metropolitan Clinic for 47 years, died Tuesday in a Portland hospital. He was 75. Dr. Carter was a member of the staff at Emanuel Hospital for 47 years and was a past president of the hospital. He was born in Portland and was a graduate of Willamette University and the University of Oregon Medical School. He was a member of the Multnomah County Medical Society, Oregon Medical Association, American Medical Association, First Presbyterian Church, Columbia-Edgewater Club and Multnomah Athletic Club. A private family service was held Friday in Portland Memorial Funeral Home, with private inurnment in Portland Memorial Mausoleum. Surviving are his wife, Irma Carter, Portland; two sons, Dr. Peter Bodine Carter, Aberdeen, S.D., and Dr. Charles Bodine Carter, Vancouver, Wash.; a daughter, Elizabeth Mary Riley, Lancaster, Calif.; and 11 grandchildren. The family suggests remembrances be contributions to the Emanuel Hospital Foundation Fund.


Children: Peter BoDine Carter. Dr. Carter was born April 9, 1932, in Portland. In 1950, he graduated from Grant High School. He graduated from Oregon State University and the University of Oregon Medical School. He lived in Portland until 1959, served in the Air Force during the Vietnam War and moved in 1975 to Aberdeen, S.D., where he was a doctor of internal medicine at St. Lukes Hospital. In 1954, he married Susanne Perrins; they divorced. In 1986, he married Marian Stolp. Survivors include his wife; sons, Scott, Kevin and Brett; stepson, Jason Stolp; daughters, Christi Abraham and Kimberly Harris; stepdaughters, Shannon Morton and Chastity Swanson; brother, Dr. Charles; sister, Elizabeth Riley; stepmother, Irma; nine grandchildren; and seven step-grandchildren.
