Notes for: John Bodine

I think this may the John Bodine who was buried in Mercer Cemetery on March 24, 1899.

From Ronny Bodine:

He served during the Civil War as a 1st Lieutenant in Company D, 48th New York Volunteer Infantry. He was buried in Mercer Cemetery, Trenton, Mercer County.

Sarah (Sharp) Bodine was the daughter of John and Mary E. Sharp. The will of Sarah Bodine, of Trenton, Mercer County, written 3 Sept 1869, was proved 22 May 1871. Therein she left her entire estate to her husband and named him as executor. The will was witnessed by Jesse E. Bodine and Woodrow D. Holt (Mercer Co. Wills, E: 423). In 1860, John Bodine was working as a carpenter and living with his brother Budd Bodine in Trenton. In 1870, John and Sarah Bodine were living with Sarah's parents in Trenton, where John worked as a carpenter. In 1880, John Bodine, now widowed, was living in Trenton with his 14-year-old daughter Nellie and sister-in-law, Mary A. Sharp.
