Notes for: Catherine Amanda Bodine
I had her name as Amanda C. Bodine, but she was baptized at age 10 as Catherine Amanda Bodine. I would have to guess that her real name was Catherine Amanda Bodine.
They were married by Rev. I. D. King. The marriage record says that her father, Francis, was from Mount Holly and that he was deceased.

Dave- Thanks for the info from your web site. I have been looking for the parents of clark Pierson to no avail. I have other info on him like his second wife. Suspected that he had a first wife and your site confirms. Amanda's name appears in a Civil War letter dated 1861 or 62 between my Ggrandparents, Henry Gallagher and Jane Pierson. She mentions that Amanda and clark are going to Phila. for the day. At least you solved that for me!! I guess what ever you have on Clark and Amanda is published!? Thanks again..........Gilbert H. In 1850, Amanda Bodine was living with her sister and brother-in-law, Adelaide and William Rogers in Mount Holly, Burlington County. The marriage of Clark Pierson, Editor of the Lambertville "Beacon," and Miss Amanda C. Bodine, of Mount Holly, was announced in the "New Jersey Mirror" of 27 June 1861. In 1870, Clark and Amanda Pierson were living in Hunterdon County. After 9 years of marriage the couple had no children. The death of Amanda Pierson was reported in the Lambertville "Beacon" of 30 June 1874. By June 1880, Clark Pierson, a resident of Hunterdon County, where he continued in his position as editor, was married to his 2nd wife Lida. In 1900, still living in Hunterdon County, he reported he was married to his wife Lida for 23 years, thus married in 1877. By April 1910, Lida Pierson was widowed.

Lambertville, Jan. 7.---The funeral of Clark Pierson, late editor and publisher of the Lambertville Record, was held from the First Baptist Church yesterday afternoon, and was largely attended by relatives, friends and the Masonic order. Mr. Pierson was a member of Amwell Lodge, No. 12, F. and A. M.; a past commander of St. Elmo Commandery, Knights Templar, and a member of the Chapter. He was born in Lambertville July 13, 1836 and engaged in journalism in early boyhood. He leaves a widow and two daughters. Interment was in Riverview Cemetery.
