Notes for: John B. Bodine

The marriage of John Bodine to Miss Zenia R. Shinn, both of Mount Holly, was reported in the "New Jersey Mirror" of 7 April 1859. John Bodine, age 17, was living 1850 with his sister and brother-in-law, Mary and Samuel Deacon in Evesham Township. From 1860 on the Bodines lived in Northampton Township where John worked as a bricklayer and mason. In 1860, John and Zenedia Bodine and their daughter Hannah, were living with Zenedia's father, John M. Shinn. In 1900, Zerelda Bodine stated she had borne 1 child, but the child was no longer living. In 1910, John Bodine was still engaged as a mason. Zenede R. Bodine, age 86 and widowed, was living 1920 with her nephew, Norwood B. Shinn, in Mount Holly. Norwood had already been living with his uncle and aunt in 1910. John Bodine was buried in the Baptist Cemetery, Mount Holly. Mrs. Zeneade Bodine, widow of John Bodine, died Saturday night at the home of her nephew, Norwood Shinn, Mt. Holly. She was 96 years old, and had been ill only a few days. She was an aunt of Howard M. Shinn, Mt. Holly policeman.
