Notes for: Joel Bodine, Jr.

From Ronny Bodine:

As Joel Bodine, Jr., he served from 17 Aug 1812 to 25 Sept 1812 in Captain John Wright's Company of Infantry, Monmouth County, Major Isaac Andruss' Detachment of New Jersey Detailed Militia. He was buried in the Episcopal Churchyard at Glassboro, Gloucester County, New Jersey. Maria (Githens) Bodine was the daughter of Joshua Fearnes and Margaret (Kughler) Githens, and was buried 11 Sept 1832 in St. John's Episcopal Church Cemetery, Chew's Landing, now in Camden County. In 1850, Sarah (Lutz) Bodine, now a widow, was living in the household of her stepson, Joshua Bodine in Millville Township, Cumberland County. On 8 May 1851 in Glassboro, Gloucester County, Sarah Bodine married Samuel Hillman, with whom she was living 1860 in Pilesgrove Township, Salem County, New Jersey. He apparently soon died, as in July 1870, Sarah Hillman, age 67, was boarding with the family of Josiah and Rachel Hewitt in Pilesgrove Township. Sarah Hillman was buried in Sharptown Methodist Cemetery, Sharptown, Salem County, where her grave marker reads, Sarah P. Hillman, relict of Samuel, died March 8, 1879 aged 78 years.
