Notes for: Minerva Catherine Bodine

Dawn Ridder asked the following:

In 1871, Minerva C. Bodine married Freeland Patrick in Marshall Co AL. Minerva, I believe, was the daughter of Margaret Patrick and Henry Bodine, both of Marshall Co AL.

I am trying to ferret out the Freeland connection to the two families. In 1840, John and Anna (Birdwell) Freeland were listed on the census for Marshall Co.

So far, I have been unable to find any mention of a Freeland Patrick other than this marriage. Is this a mistake on the marriage license?

Patrick families were in York Co in 1800 as well as at least one Freeland family. Is the connection between Patrick and Freeland or between Bodine and Freeland?

Ronny Bodine answered with this:

The marriage did take place on 16 Feb 1871 in Marshall County, AL. Look for Freland Patrick and you will find him in Marshall County in 1880 and 1900 (born Feb 1851). Minerva gave birth to daughter Rosie in Nov 1881, but by 1900, Freland was a widower, living with 4 of his children. I could not find him after 1900.
