Notes for: Harry (Torbid?) Bodine
From Ronny Bodine:
I had spent several days trying to figure out how one Harry Gordon Bodine (1906-1978), of Juliustown, Burlington County, NJ figured into the family. I went so far as to track down and call Henry Gordon Bodine III of Burlington, NJ and chat with him awhile, but he... was amazed I knew more about it than he did. I need to access Burlington County marriage records for 1905-1908 for the answer, but that means traveling to Mount Holly, NJ, a closer trip for me than for you. In that time period a Bodine married Rebecca Ann Horner (1884-1969), then died soon after, leaving her a widow. I put a posting on GenForum, so let's see what that produces.

Rebecca (Horner) Bodine DeBow was the daughter of Forbit and Emiline (Blaine) Horner. In 1900, Rebecca Horner, age 15, was working as a servant in the household of Anthony and Emily Applegate in Springfield Township. In 1910, as Rebecca Horner, age 26, a widow, having borne 1 child, then living, was living with her son Gordon in the household of her widowed mother in New Hanover Township. By Jan 1920, she was married to and living with Joseph E. DeBow (born Sept 1863), a railroad laborer, in Springfield Township. Her 13-year old son, H. Gordon Bodine, was living with them. By April 1930, Joseph and Rebecca DeBow, though still married, now appeared separated, though both lived in Springfield Township, Joseph DeBow lived by himself whereas Rebecca 'Reba' DeBow was living with her son Gordon Bodine, though she was identified as his mother-in-law. Reba's age was correctly recorded as 45 and it was noted she was first married at the age of 21, thus in 1905, which would have been to Gordon's father.
