Notes for: James Bodine, Jr.
He moved to Fannin County, Texas. James is Betty Strawther's gg grandfather. I did have that he was born in Jefferson County, Illinois, but info from Ronny Bodine says he was born in Tennessee, probably in McMinn County. Ronny wrote, "He was born 1833 in Tennessee, probably in McMinn County and was living 1880 in Fannin County, Texas with his family. Married (1) 22 July 1852, Jefferson County to Elizabeth C. Bowman, born 25 February 1834, died 17 November 1852 and buried in South Hickory Hill Christian Church Cemetery, Jefferson County. Married (2) 27 September 1855, Jefferson County to Mary S. Green, born about 1835 in Illinois; living 1880. He came to Jefferson County with his parents in the 1840s, worked there as a farmer through 1870, and by 1880 had relocated to Fannin County, Texas."
His name is given as "James Bodine, Jr." in the Illinois Statewide Marriage Index 1763-1900.
From Ronny Bodine:
James Bodine was buried in Hampton Graveyard, Fannin County. See his obituary in the Bonham "News" of 29 Sept 1914. He came to Jefferson County with his parents in the 1840s, worked there as a farmer through 1870, and in 1879 relocated to Fannin County, Texas. James Bodine was living 1900 in Fannin County with his wife Elizabeth. Although the census noted the couple had been married 46 years, Elizabeth was not identical with James's 2nd wife, Mary. In 1910, it was noted that Elizabeth was James's 3rd wife and he her 2nd husband.
