Edward and Leah Bodine lived most of their married lives in Joplin where Edward worked as a miner. In 1910, he was Clyde E. Bodine and his wife, Leah, stated she had borne one child, then living with them. Their son, James, appears to have been their only child, as in April 1930, the couple had no other children.

Edward Clyde Bodine, 60 years old, died at 1 o'clock yesterday afternoon at his home, eight miles southwest of Joplin. He was born May 5, 1883, in Joplin and had lived here all his life. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Letha Bodine of the home; his mother, Mrs. Dixie M. Bodine, 2419 Bird avenue; a brother, J. C. Bodine, 2419 Bird avenue, and three sisters, Mrs. Zollie Clayton of Wichita, Kas., Mrs. Mattie Schmitz of Ponca City, Okla., and Mrs. Mable Wilson of El Paso, Tex. The Parker-Hunsaker mortuary is in charge of funeral arrangements.

Services for Mrs. Leah Bodine, 85, 1920 Porter Ave., who died at 3:15 p.m. at St. John's Medical Center where she had been a patient six days, will be at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday at Mason Chapel. Irvin Dally will officiate. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery. Mrs. Bodine was born Oct. 25, 1883, at Steel City, Neb. She had lived in this area most of her life. There are no immediate survivors.
