Notes for: Alonzo Moorehead Bodine

He is five years old in the 1850 Census (NJ). There is an Alonzo M. Bodine who enlisted for the Union in New Jersey on August 26, 1862. There is an Alonzo M. Bodine listed in the Civil War Pension Index at Ancestry.com. His widow was a Hannah E. Bodine.

Alonzo Bodine was enrolled in the 23rd New Jersey Volunteer Infantry on 26 Aug 1862 and was mustered in as a Private in Company C on 13 Sept 1862. He served through the December 1862 Fredericksburg Campaign and the May 1863 Chancellorsville Campaign and was honorably mustered out with his regiment on 27 June 1863. The marriage of Alonzo M. Bodine and Rebecca T. Warner, both of Mount Holly, was announced in the "New Jersey Mirror" of 4 Jan 1871. His marriage to Miss Hannah Dennis was announced in the issue of 27 Feb 1889. The Bodine family was living 1880 in Northampton Township, Burlington County and 1900 in Camden, Camden County where he worked as a railroad laborer. See his obituary in the "New Jersey Mirror" of 6 May 1903. Alonzo Bodine was buried in Saint Andrews Cemetery, Mount Holly, Burlington County.

Services for lodges will be held on Sunday evening, 8 o'clock. Interment Mount Holly, N J.
