Notes for: Samuel H. Bodine

Some information on this family comes from the 1850 censuses of New Jersey (roll 444, p. 400). They were living in Mount Holly Township in Burlington County. A lot of this data comes from Sinnott. John Stanwood's wife descends from this family. I wonder if the Rebecca in the 1860 Census is not Pharnalia. The 1850 and 1860 Censuses for this family need to be checked since I was going by second-hand information that didn't make a lot of sense in some places.

According to the 1880 Census for his father, Francis, in Unionville, Burlington Co., NJ, Samuel worked for the Railroad.

From Ronny Bodine:

The 1860 census notes Samuel Bodine was a gentleman and in 1870 a retired farmer. Samuel Bodine was buried in Baptist Cemetery, Northampton Township, Burlington County. The inscription on his tombstone was included in "History of Burlington and Mercer Counties, New Jersey," Philadelphia, 1883, p. 200. Pharnalia (Parnell) Sooy was the daughter of Nicholas and Sarah (Sears) Sooy and sister of Sarah, who married Samuel's brother James Bodine. See his obituary in the "New Jersey Mirror" of 1 March 1871.
