Notes for: Mordecai McKinney

Mordecai may have been born in 1685 or 1700. These are some dates I've seen mentioned, but there was no source to back them up. He died between 1759 and 1760.

In my ancestry I have a Mordecai MCKINNEY b. 1685 d. 1760 Hunterdon Co. NJ =Mary SEBERING daughter of Jan Roeloffsen SEBERING and Adrienne POLHEMIUS. She was born in Brazil to missionary parents.

McKinney Family Burial Plot near Broadway, Warren Co, NJ. It's been abandoned since about 1959 and exists only in the paper transcriptions done by the D.A.R. Notes in ( ) are my own from study of this family. This is the McKinney family outlined in Snell's "History of Warren County, NJ" as being Irish.

Mordecai's will was either written or probated on May 28, 1760. An abstract of this can be found in "New Jersey Abstract of Wills," v. 111 (1751-1760), p. 212.

Mordecai McKinney was born about 1700. His will is dated November 17, 1759 and is states: "Mordecai Mckinney of Lebanon Township, Hunterdon County, New Jersey, made his will. Son John eldest. Grandson Mordecai (son of my Daniel), under age. Son Jacob, Son David, Son Mordecai. Daughter Ann Klein (or Yam , or Jiem). Wife Mary with old negro wench to wait on her. Negroes Fortune, Prince, Cust, Sam and Sarah. The children of my son William, namely Abraham, Ann, Mordecai and Mary. Executors, Son David, and Son Mordecai, and a friend Derick Molate. Witnesses Adam Pancle (or Aancle), Luke Van Boaskerk and Jno. Forrester. Proved July 5, 1760. - Recorded at Trenton New Jersey, State Will Book 10, p. 585.
