Word was received today of the death of Mrs. Cecelia Bodine, 36, of Vandalia, Mo. She is the daughter of Mrs. Irene Bunte of Franklin Road and the neice of Cecyle Danneman, also of Franklin Road. Services and burial will be Sunday afternoon in Vandalia.

Bertha (Ganje) Bodine was the daughter of Conrad and Regina (Boechler) Ganje.

James Joseph Bodine, 69, Springfield, died at 10:40 p.m. May 8 in his home after a long illness. He was an employee of Southwestern Bell for 33 1/2 years, retiring in 1980. He also was a U.S. Navy Veteran, serving in WWII. He was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church. Mr. Bodine was preceded in death by his parents, Clement and Ethel; two brothers, Cecil and George; and two sisters, Mary and Josephine. He is survived by his wife, Bertha; five sons, Gary, Roger, Marvin, Bruce and Anthony; a daughter, Annette, all of Springfield; five brothers, Hank, Bill, Mark, Robert and Fred; four sisters, Maxine, Helen, Betty and Margaret; and three grandchildren. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 12, in St. Joseph Catholic Church with Father John Sheley, O.S.B., officiating. Interment will be in Resurrection Cemetery under the direction of Thierne Colonial Chapel. Visitation will be from 6 to 7 p.m. Monday in St. Joseph Church with prayer service at 7 p.m.

Springfield - Bertha Regina (Ganje) Bodine, 94, of Springfield, died Thursday, October 14, 2021, in her home, surrounded by family after suffering a recent stroke. Born on April 28, 1927, in Karlsruhe, North Dakota, Bertha was a beloved sister, wife, mother, aunt, grandmother and great-grandmother who was cherished as the Matriarch of her family. She was also treasured by her friends and fellow parishioners at St. Joseph Catholic Church, where she was an active member for over sixty years. Bertha loved spending time with all of her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also enjoyed hosting family gatherings into her nineties. Bertha was preceded in death by her parents, Conrad Ganje and Regina Boechler, eight siblings and her husband, James Joseph Bodine, who passed away in May 1992. Survivors include her five children, Roger Bodine, Marvin Bodine and his wife Patty, Bruce Bodine and his wife Sheila, Annette (Bodine) Henderson and her husband Kevin, and Anthony Bodine. Survivors also include her grandchildren Christopher Bodine, his wife Molly Greenwade, and their daughters Quinn and Claire Bodine, Elizabeth Bodine-Mankoo, her husband Ravinder Mankoo and daughter Meera Mankoo, Regina Bodine-Hauskins, her husband Drew Hauskins and their son Jude Hauskins, Michael and Matthew Henderson, and Sarai, Rachel and Rebekah Bodine. She is also survived by her brother Conrad, niece Georgia Bastion and husband Tom of California, as well as many other nieces and nephews. A private funeral mass will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church, and she will be buried at Resurrection Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church, 1115 N. Campbell Ave., Springfield, MO 65802 (417-865-1112), in support of their parish programs.
