Obituary, The Catholic Advance (Wichita, KS) of Saturday, 1 July 1916.
Another sad accident happened in Oklahoma City last Friday morning at 1:30 o'clock. Mr. W. E. Bodine, head janitor of the city schools, was found unconscious with a badly fractured skull, on North Robinson street, where he was riding his motor cycle in answer to a summons telling him that some one was trying to break into one of the schools. No one saw the accident and as Mr. Bodine died several hours later without regaining consciousness, it is not known for certain whether he was run into by some one, or his motor just skidded into the tree and curbing by which he was found. The funeral services were held Monday morning at the Sacret Heart Church in Capitol Hill. Rev. Fr. McGuire delivered a beautiful little sermon to the relatives and friends assembled. The deceased leaves a wife and two children, besides his parents and relatives on West 9th street. He was a brother of Miss Mae Bodine and was considered by the school board as one of the most trustworthy and efficient men in the city's employ.
