Lee Vander Waal, age 78, of Highland Village, passed away Wednesday, April 8, 2009, in Denton.

He was born April 30, 1930 in Hospers, Iowa to Marvin Levi Vander Waal and Dorothy Julianna Landhuis Vander Waal. Lee married his first wife Gerry who preceded him in death. He later married Vera on January 19, 2007 in Lewisville. Lee was past President and active member of the Lewisville Lake Symphony and was active in his church where he was a deacon and an elder. He worked for JC Penney for 32 years and his passion was gardening and flowers.

Lee is survived by his devoted wife, Vera; daughters, Terri Albrecht and husband Robert and Wendy Benanti and husband, Salvatore; four grandchildren, Ken and Scott Albrecht and Alyssa and Gianna Benanti; sisters, Jacquline Hutchinson and Cheryl Vander Waal. He was preceded in death by his parents, son Jeffrey and his first wife, Gerry.

The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at Mulkey-Mason Funeral Home in Lewisville. A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 15, 2009, at First Baptist Church in Lewisville. The family requests memorial contributions made to First Baptist Church, 1251 W.
