BEVERLY "DAWN" CURTAIN
December 16, 1932 - January 15, 2021

OBITUARY
Beverly "Dawn" Curtain, 88, passed away, peacefully, surrounded by loved ones on January 15, 2021. Dawn Curtain was predeceased by her husband of 62 years, John Curtain. Dawn was the beloved mother of Cathy Wylet (Mark) and Jim Curtain. She leaves behind three grandchildren, Johnna, Jeannette and Will, along with her favorite niece, Elaine McBride (Mike), brother-in law, Irv Johnson and grand-nephew Lance.

Born on December 16th, 1932 in Detroit, MI, Dawn was the eldest of two girls, born to Dale and Mayme Bodine. Her sister Dotty passed in 2012. At an early age, the family moved to Sidney, OH. Dawn was an all-around athlete, participated in drama, choir and was an excellent student. She graduated from Bowling Green State University in 1954 with a degree in Physical Education and a minor in Biology. At BGSU, she met and married John Curtain. They married in 1955, had two children and moved to Phoenix, AZ in 1964. Dawn grew to love the desert and the western part of the United States. Dawn and John immediately became ASU Sun Devil fans and had football season tickets for over 40 years. She attended both Rose Bowls, having a much better time at the first one! (we won that one)

Dawn loved her family and cherished time with her older relatives. She leaves behind several cousins with whom she shared lifelong memories. Dawn loved to read mysteries and play her piano. For several years, she sang in the First United Methodist Church of Phoenix choir. She and John travelled all over the world, attended local Broadway shows and had season tickets to the Symphony. After retirement, they spent their summers in Flagstaff, AZ.

Dawn fought and won her battle with breast cancer in 2018. After treatment was complete, she and Cathy took a wonderful road trip to the North Rim of the Grand Canyon and Zion National Park. This past September brought a special trip to Coronado, CA and Laguna Beach, CA. Dawn's favorite place to be was at the beach looking at her beloved ocean.

A special, heartfelt thank you goes out to Hospice of the Valley, especially to Linda, Kelly and Erica. If you wish to make a donation in Dawn's memory, please donate to Hospice of the Valley, 1510 E. Flower St., Phoenix, AZ 85014 or make it online at www.hov.org

We are so grateful Dawn was able to be at her home at the end of her life in the care of Jim, Cathy, Mark and Hospice.

Due to the current pandemic, a private family service will be held at a later date.
