St. Louis, March 26--(AP)--Louis Bodine, 57, was killed and John Lester, 34, was seriously injured when they were struck by speeding automobiles which failed to stop. The drivers of both cars escaped. Bodine was struck by a car said by a witness to have been occupied by two men and two women.

From State of Missouri Certificate of Death No. 1929-13397: Louis Bodine, aged about 57, of 2321 Olive Street, St. Louis, laborer, native of New York, parents unknown, died of a compound fracture of the skull from being struck by a car. He was buried in Potters Field.

On 12 Sept 1918, Lewis Agustus Bodine registered for the World War 1 draft in Auburn, DeKalb County, Indiana. He reported he was born 6 Oct 1874, worked as a boilermaker helper for the B&O Railroad, and Mrs. Hattie Bodine, of Newark, New Jersey was his next of kin. The registration card was filled out as Louis Augustus Bodine, but he signed as Louis Agustus Bodine. In 1920, aged 45 and single, he lived in Garrett, DeKalb County, Indiana working as a boiler maker.
