A Conesus man died last week Wednesday night of smoke inhalation after his mobile home caught fire when a kerosene heater exploded. Clarence L. Bodine, 65, of 6810 West Lake Rd., Rt. 256, in the Town of Conesus was pronounced dead at Noyes Memorial Hospital in Dansville. County coroner Dr. John W. Stoll of Dansville listed the death as accidental. William L. Goodell of 6820 West Lake Rd., a neighbor, made an unsuccessful attempt to rescue Bodine. Bodine's pet dog also perished in the blaze which completely gutted the trailer. Mrs. Goodell first spotted the blaze just before midnight while coming home from work. She woke her husband and called the fire department Mr. Goodell then ran to Bodine's home and tried to get in the trailer through a locked door. He then broke another door in but was backed off by the blazing inferno. Goodell was not injured. A pet cat ran from the fire when the door was opened. Both Conesus and Sparta fire departments responded to the call just south of County Rd. 33. Bodine was a retire fork lift operator at the Domine Builders Supply Corp. in Rochester. He was not married.

Bodine---Clarence A. Bodine of 6810 West Lake Road, Conesus, died Feb. 16, 1978 in a fire at his small mobile home. Cause of the fire is believed to have been an explosion from a kerosene heater. Mr. Bodine, who was 65 years old, retired several years ago as a forklift operator with the Domine Builders Supply Corp. of Rochester. He was a bachelor and is survived by four brothers, Roy of Connecticut, Howard of Victor, Stanley of Wyoming, Albert of Honeoye Falls. Services were held Saturday evening at Chamberlain Funeral Home, Dansville.
