Notes for: William J. Bodine

I wonder if the "J" isn't short for "Junior." I believe his tombstone says he was killed near Spotsylvania Court House, Virginia on May 12, 1864. He was in the 15th Regiment, New Jersey Volunteers. The tombstone does say he was the son of William and Mary Ann Bodine.

From Genforum:

Searching for the burial place of Civil War veteran William J. Bodine who died in May of 1863 at Ramseyburg, New Jersey.

[Note from Dave: I'm not sure the above applies to this William J. Bodine, but it could. I think the year, 1863, and the place might be incorrect, though.]

From Ronny Bodine:

His large monument in Mansfield Cemetery, Washington Township, Warren County reads:
Memory of Wm J. son of Wm. and Mary Ann Bodine. He enlisted to defeat a wicked pro slavery rebellion Aug. 1, 1863 in Co. H, 15th Reg. NJ Vol. and was killed in a charge near Spotsylvania C.H. May 12th 1864 aged 22 years 5 mos and 8 days.
