Notes for: Helen (Nellie) Earl Bodine

I am guessing that the Nellie mentioned in an 1870 Census in New Jersey is the same as this Helen. That could very well be incorrect, though. The date on the marriage return seems to say 1880, but it is hard to read. She and Frederick were both twenty years old at the time.

I did have her death date as February 9, but M. W. said it was February 19, 1934. That must be wrong however. Her obit gives her death date as January 13, 1930 in Seabring, FL.

From Ronny Bodine:

Her birth in Trenton, Mercer County was recorded as Elenora Bodine, daughter of Jediah H. and Martha Bodine (Mercer County Birth Records). In 1900, Benjamin and Helen Hopper, with her 3 children of her 1st marriage and son of her 2nd, lived in Manhattan, New York City, where Benjamin was manager of the Adams Express Company. In 1910, Benjamin and Helen Hopper lived in Jersey City, Hudson County where Benjamin worked as foreman of an express company. He reported that he and Helen had been married 15 years and that it was Helen's 2nd marriage and that out of 4 children she had borne, 3 still lived. Benjamin Hopper was buried in Mercer Cemetery, Trenton on 10 July 1912. Nellie Hopper, widowed, was living 1920 with her son-in-law and daughter Fred and Daisy Curdt in Manhattan, New York.
