Matthew R. Godsil, 58, of Saint Paris, Ohio, passed away in his home on Wednesday, April 2, 2003 at 6:05 p.m. He was born in Galesburg, Illinois on September 21, 1944, the son of the late William and Nellie (Walker) Godsil. Mr. Godsil was a 1962 graduate of Wyoming High School, Wyoming, Illinois and retired in 1998 from International Harvester (Navistar), Springfield, Ohio. He was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Saint Paris, and Local 402 United Auto Workers of Springfield. Survivors include his wife, Charlene (Bodine) Godsil who he married on June 6, 1964; two sons, Michael A. (Peggy) Godsil of Chillicothe, Missouri and Francis M. Godsil and fianeee Robin Beck of West Liberty, one daughter, Christine R. (Todd) Fielder of DeGraff; eight grandchildren; Mathias and Caleb Godsil of Chilicothe, Missouri, Michael, Sarah, and Matt Godsil of West Liberty, and Christina, Benjamin and Jennifer Fielder of DeGraff; eight brothers, George Godsil, Patrick (Donna) Godsil, Mike (Mickey) Godsil, Steve (Myrna) Godsil, Jess (Janet) Godsil, and Kevin (Connie) Godsil all of Galesburg, Illinois, Danny (Jane) Godsil of New Windsor, Illinois and Paul (Marianne) Godsil of Port St. Lucie, Florida; seven sister, Alice Timmerman of Belleview, Nebraska, Bea (Gary) Lundeen and Loretta (Jerry) Bent, both of Oneida, Illinois, Colette (Mel) Slane of Peoria, Illinois, Christine (Richard) Cooper of Glencoe, Illinois, Cecelia (Dan) Shea of Gilson, Illinois, and Julia (Tex) Jackson of Galesburg, Illinois; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Matt was preceded in death by one brother, Gordon Leo Godsil and Michael and Julia Morrissey who raised him. A mass of Christian burial will be held on Monday, April 7, 2003 at 10:30 a.m. in the Scared Heart Catholic Church, 121 East Walnut Street, Saint Paris, with Reverend Greg Konerman officiating. Interment will take place in Evergreen Cemetery, Saint Paris. Visitation for family and friends will be held on Sunday, April 6 from 2-5 p.m.in RICHESON-WICKHAM AND ATKINS FUNERAL HOME, 216 South Springfield Street. Memorial contributions can be made to Mercy Foundation (to be used for the new Cancer Center) 1343 North Fountain Boulevard, Springfield, Ohio 45501.

GODSIL, Charlene Rae76, of Clark County, passed away on Wednesday morning, February 1, 2023. She was born in Los Angeles, California, on March 18, 1946, the daughter of the late John and Nola (Moss) Bodine. Charlene enjoyed reading, going to the movies, the company of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren as well as having a passion for decorating and gardening. She retired from The Country Gentleman, Urbana in 2014. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Urbana. Charlene is survived by her three children, Mike (Peggy) Godsil, Francis (Robin) Godsil and Christine (Brian) Funderburgh; brother, Brent Bodine; eight grandchildren, Mathias, Caleb, Michael, Sarah, Matt, Christina, Benjamin, and Jennifer; eleven beautiful great-grandchildren, Braylen, Gabriel, Devlynn, Dean, Carsen, Zac, Liam, Lucas, Finley, Eleanor, and Evelyn; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Matthew Godsil and three brothers, John, Terry and Steve. Services will be held at the family's convenience.
