The will of Nicholas Trumpour of Montgomery, Orange County, was written 5 Jan 1809 and therein named as heirs his wife Elizabeth and sons Lewis and William. Executors were his wife Elizabeth, William Crist and Adam Bodine. The will was proved 28 Feb 1809. (Orange County Wills, vol. D, pp. 197-199)
Elizabeth Tremper, widow of Nicholas Tremper, applied for a widow's pension on 15 March 1838 under the Act of 7 July 1838. Nicholas Tremper had served as a Private in the Company of Captain Faulkner and regiment of Colonel Paulding for 8 months. Elizabeth was granted a pension on 4 June 1839 under File No. W.22453. In support of her claim she stated she and her husband were married on 29 Nov 1782 by Rev. Van Ness, a pastor of the Dutch Reformed Church at Shawangunk in Ulster County and that her name before marriage was Elizabeth Bodine. Her husband died 3 Feb 1808 [sic-it was 1809]. In support of her claim, a deposition was provided on 8 Sept 1838 by Adam Bodine of Montgomery, aged 68, who says he was present at their wedding at his father's house in 1782. Under the provisions of the Act of 3 March 1843, Elizabeth Tremper, aged 81, and now a resident of New York City, made a declaration on 26 April 1843 that she remains a widow. Her new pension certificate was issued 10 July 1843. [Note: Unless their first child was born out of wedlock, as he was bapt. 22 Sept 1782, three months before their marriage, it may be more likely the marriage took place in 1781.]
