Notes for: Cornelius Skinner

This info comes from a McMakin account.

I got the following message about Cornelius. I do not believe this means that Cornelius' father had to be another Cornelius, but it is something to check.

Subject: Skinner Genealogy

Hello Dave,

I am a descendant of Cornelius and Sarah Skinner ( 5th gr grandparents ) through their daughter Adda Skinner Hollingsworth.

I noticed that you have Cornelius' father to be Richard. However in Deed Book 101 in which Pres. James Madison deeds Cornelius his land in Warren Co., OH, Cornelius is referred to as Cornelius Skinner, JUNIOR, twice.

Then according to Warren Co. Court of Common Pleas Book #6 (dated 13 Nov 1818) pages 259-262 in which Cornelius' lands are shown divided up between his heirs, it states several times that Cornelius died interstate (sic) about the year 1814.

Thanks,

Lisa Axt

They [Cornelius and Sarah Skinner] had two sons and six daughters. Upon the death of her husband, Sarah removed to Warren County, OH with her children to reside on lands owned by her husband. She died there.

They had the following children:

i. Elizabeth (1787-)

ii. Mary (Twin) (1788-1873)

iii. Susannah “Susan” (Twin) (1787-1845)

iv. Harriet (1790-1863)

v. Addah (1791-1829)

vi. Emily (1793-1883)

vii. Richard Alexander (1796-1848)

viii. Cornelius (1798-)

Blair sent more info on these children. It is in my Skinner file.
