Mildred Earline Curtis Godbey

Trussville--Mildred Earline Curtis Godbey, formerly of Athens, was received into the loving arms of her Saviour on October 17, 2015. She was born on February 17, 1925, in Cornith, MS and graduated from Shades Cahaba High School in 1944.

Through the years, she worked at NASA and the U.S. Postal Service. The most important job she held was being a loving mother to her five children and caring for her husband.

Mrs. Godbey was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Paul Godbey; parents, Robert and Flora Curtis; sisters, Marie Pyle and Reba Bennett; brother, R.C. Curtis; daughter, Dianne Betts; and grandson, Daniel Kelly. Mrs. Godbey is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth Kelly (Tommy); sons, Paul Godbey (Susie); John Robert Godbey (Sandra); Stephen Godbey (Mary Lou); sister, Annette Dodd; ten grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, October 20, 2015, from noon until 2 p.m. at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home in Trussville, with funeral service to follow.

Memorials may be made to Isom's Chapel United Methodist Church, Athens, AL, or the United Methodist Children's Home.

Mrs Godbey's favorite Bible passages were Proverbs 3:5-6 and Psalms 23.
