Doris Mae Ashe Bodine.
HOUSTON -- Entered into rest on July 17, 2005, at her home in Longview, Texas. Doris was born on July 5, 1929, in Slocum, Texas. She is preceded in death by her husband of 36 years, John C. Ashe. She was a long-time resident of Houston, and most recently a resident of Henderson, until her illness progressed. Doris was a member of Faith Memorial Baptist Church in Houston, and then a member of Main Street Baptist Church in Henderson. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star Rosewyn Chapter No. 927 at Gus A. Brandt Lodge No. 1296. She is survived by three daughters, Patti Stansbury and husband, Lawrence, from Cleveland, Lynda Gore and husband, Dale, of Whitehouse, and Susan Crumpton and husband, Kenneth, from Longview; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Judy Goedicke and Mildred Jester; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. To our extended family and many, many friends, including: Dr. Richards and the Tyler Cancer Center; Hospice of East Texas and K. Stansbery; and our dearest friends, Colleen and Peg, who have given selflessly, tirelessly, and abundantly of themselves, "Thank you for your continued prayers and thoughtfulness; she loved you all." The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 P.M. Wednesday, July 20, 2005, at Woodlawn Funeral Home in Houston. Services will be held 2:00 P.M. Thursday, July 21, 2005, in the Chapel of Woodlawn Funeral Home, with the Rev. Robert Brantley officiating. Interment to follow in Woodlawn Garden of Memories.
