Notes for: James Thomas Bodine, Sr.

He is buried in Hillsboro, Texas. James was known to many as Uncle Jim. His early life was spent in the home of Robert Frantz, probably an uncle. He later came to live in Jim's home. His early married life was in the area of Dawson, Texas where some of his children were born. They then moved to Aquilla where Jim opened a blacksmith shop. He continued in this line of work until the time of his retirement.

On 12 Sept 1917, James Bodine registered for the World War I draft in Hillsboro, Hill County, Texas. He stated he was employed as a blacksmith and was living with his wife Ida in Aquilla.

HILLSBORO, Feb. 23 (SPL)--Mrs. Ida B. Bodine, 78, of Aquilla died in Dallas at 3.10 a.m. Saturday. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Aquilla Methodist Church, Rev. J. M. brim and Rev. Paul Hopkins officiating, burial in Ridge Park Cemetery, Hillsboro. She was born in Navarro County and had lived at Aquilla the past 55 years. She was a member of the Methodist Church. She was married to James Bodine in Navarro County in 1907. Survivors include her husband, a sister, Mrs. R. L. Puckett of Waco; two sons Tom Bodine of San Antonio and Ray Bodine of Temple; a daughter, Mrs. Marvin Rampf (sic) of Dallas; three grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
