John Bodine was living 1930 with his family in Shelby County, Texas where he worked as a mill laborer. John Bodine was buried in Liberty Hill Memorial Gardens, San Augustine County. His Texas death certificate, no. 1976-78944, noted he was a veteran of World War I and had been employed as a logging contractor. Jewel (Nerren) Bodine was the daughter of Alexander Newton and Nancy E. Nerren.

SAN AUGUSTINE, Tex.---John Benny Bodine, 82, died Monday night at a local hospital. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Wyman Roberts Chapel with Rev. Lewis Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Gardens. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Jewell Bodine of San Augustine; three daughters, Mrs. Johnny B. Weeks of Big Spring, Mrs. Oleta Rule of Jasper and Mrs. Tommie Lee Carter of Beaumont; one son, Harvey Bodine of Baton Rouge, La.; three step-daughters, Ruby Haberek of Zavalla, Katheryn Eden of Lufkin and Margie Wright of Freeport; one sister, Mary L. Stanfield of Lamesa; two brothers, Leon Bodine of Ackerly and Rubin Bodine of Burns Flat, Okla.; 23 grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren.
