Notes for: Mary Ann Bodine

It is ASSUMED here that Mary Ann Bodine is the daughter of Joseph Bodine. According to her obituary, she was born 1826 in Wayne County, Ohio. Joseph Bodine and Elizabeth Thomas were married there in 1825. Both Mary and her presumed widowed mother were living in Hancock County, Ohio in 1850. According to her mother's 1891 obituary, five of her seven children were then living. Previously, only six children were known of which four were living. Mary is the missing 7th (and oldest) child and the 5th living child.

James M. Lauchlin AND Mary A. Bodine were married 29 Jan 1852 by Leonard Hill, Minister.

1900 Otsego, Steuben Co., IN: James M. LAUGHLIN Aug 1820 WV widowed, Mary E. Sept 1862 IN dau. farmer

James & Mary's daughter, Mary, married Frank Petty in 1907 and the family relocated to Williams County, Ohio. There, James Laughlen died in 1909. Frank and Mary Petty were living in Northwest Twp., Williams County in 1910. Mary died in 1936 and Frank in 1937 and both were buried in Rogers Cemetery, Williams County.

Mary Ann Bodine was born July 23d, 1826, in Wayne county, Ohio, died at her home in Otsego township, August 24, 1895, aged 69 years, 1 month and 1 day. She was married to James M. Laughlen, January 29, 1852. To them were born six children, two sons and four daughters. One son and two daughters preceded her to the spirit land. She leaves an aged husband, one son, two daughters and thirteen grandchildren to mourn their loss. When a child she united with the M.E. church and lived a consistent member. She was a long and patient sufferer and had often expressed a desire to go home. Funeral services conducted by Rev. U. A. Foster at the M. E. Church in Alvarado.
