Mr. Robert (Hank) Birdsall, Center Road, Scipio Center, died Thursday, Jan. 14, 1988 at Lakeland Regional Medical Center, Lakeland, Fla. Mr. Birdsall was a native of Utica and had resided in Scipio for over fifty years. He retired from the former Columbian Rope Company following thirty four years of service. An outdoorsman, he was an avid hunter and sportsman. Mr. Birdsall was a member of the Scipio Fire Department. For several years, Mr. and Mrs. Birdsall had maintained a residence in Florida where they spent the winter months. Surviving are his wife, Norma Berdine Birdsall; three daughters, Mrs. Harold (Margaret) Babbitt, Montezuma, Mrs. Richard (Bonnie) Sullivan, Scipio Center and Ms. Judy Birdsall, North East, Pa.; a son, Donald J. Birdsall, Scipio Center; twelve grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Dina Ballard, Newfield; a brother, Stephen Birdsall, Long Beach, Calif.; several nieces & nephews. Funeral services for Mr. Birdsall will take place at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 19, 1988 at The Farrell Funeral Home, 84 South Street. Rev. James Hughes, Pastor of Scipioville Presbyterian Church officiating. Spring interment, Evergreen Cemetery, Scipioville, N.Y. Friends are invited to call at 84 South St. from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Monday. In lieu of flowers, contributions to the Scipio Fire Department are encouraged.

Norma Berdine Birdsall, 72, of 1981 Center Road, died Thursday at her home after a long illness. Mrs. Birdsall was a native of Syracuse. She was an inspector with the former Columbian Rope Co., Auburn. Her husband, Robert H., died in 1987. Mrs. Birdsall was a member of Scipioville Presbyterian Church and a member of the Port Byron Senior Citizens Club. Surviving are three daughters, Margaret Babbitt of Montezuma, Bonnie Sullivan of Scipio Center and Judy Birdsall of North East, Pa.; a son, Donald J. of Scipio Center; 12 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren. Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Farrell Funeral Home, Auburn, the Rev. James Hughes officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Scipioville. Calling hours will be 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, 84 South St. Contributions in lieu of flowers may be made to Hospice of the Finger Lakes or Poplar Ridge Instant Aid Ambulance Fund.
