Luther Thomas Brandon, 87, of Harriman, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 15, 2012, in Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge. He was born Feb. 1, 1925, in Rockwood, to Luther Claude and Dolly Mae Leffew Brandon. He was of the Baptist faith and was a caring, compassionate friend to all who knew him. He was a musician who was in the entertainment business for 82 years, starting at age 5. He enjoyed entertaining others through his songs. He was preceded in death by his wife, Norma Jean Brandon; his parents, Luther and Dolly Brandon; two brothers, William Brandon and Bobby Brandon; two sons, Jeffery Brandon and Wesley Brandon; a daughter, Vickie Lynn Bell; and a sister, Helen Brandon. Survivors include four daughters, Denise Aytes and husband David, Wartburg, Barbara Lawhon and husband Darrell, Lenoir City, Delana Harvey and husband Bill, Harriman, and Leslie Adkins, Hillard, Ohio; a son, Mark Brandon and wife Debbie, Rockwood; 19 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; a brother, Donley Brandon and wife Brenda, Rockwood; and a special friend, Carrie Bass, Oliver Springs. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 17, in Beech Park Baptist Church, Oliver Springs. The funeral service will follow the visitation at 8 p.m., with the Rev. Robbie Leech and the Rev. Garvan Walls officiating. Graveside and burial will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 18, at Oak Grove Cemetery, Rockwood, with full military honors by the Roane County Military Memorial Honor Guard.
