Notes for: Sarah Bodine

From Ronny Bodine:

The Millspaugh (Millspaw) Family of America, by Francis Corwin Millspaugh, 1969, pp. 290-293 is the source for much of the information contained herein which also cited the "old family Bible."

From Dutch Reformed Church of Shawangunk, Marriages: 26 Feb 1795: James Milspaugh and Sally Bodine.

From Brick Reformed Church of Montgomery, Orange County, Baptisms 1734-1859:
John Bodyn, born 14 March 1796 to James Milspaugh & Sarah Bodyn.
Lewis J. Bodine, born 26 Aug 1797 to James Milspaugh & Sarah Bodine.
Mary, born 15 Sep 1799 to James Milspaugh & Sarah Bodine.
Milton, born 3 Dec 1801 to Godfrey Milspaugh & Sally Bodine.

Besides the foregoing children, the "old family Bible" also recorded the following: Milton (3 Dec 1801), Benjamin (21 Jan 1803), Matilda (24 April 1806), George Bodine (4 June 1808), Sarah (13 Feb 1811), Martha (12 Jan 1815), Elizabeth (25 Jan 1817).

James and Sarah Millspaugh were buried in Poplar Grove Cemetery, Ellenville, Ulster County, where their graves are apparently no longer marked.

NOTE: Despite the fact that their son appears to be a namesake of Lewis J. Bodine (1774-1830) son of Jacob Bodine (1742-1824), Sarah Bodine Millspaugh was not named in the will of Jacob Bodine and so was not a sister of Lewis J. Bodine. Her parentage remains unknown.
