Thompson Falls---A 48-year-old Florida man was charged with deliberate homicide and aggravated assault Monday in connection with the fatal stabbing of another man in a Heron bar Friday. William Marvin Jenkins of Okeechobee, Fla., was charged with fatally wounding Michael Berdine, 33, of Port Angeles, Wash., in a fight at the Blue Hat Saloon. Berdine died in a Sandpoint, Idaho, hospital shortly after the fight.

Michael "Mick" Berdine, 33, of Carlsborg, Wash. died Saturday in a Sandpoint, Idaho, hospital from knife wounds received Friday night in Heron, Mont. Mr. Berdine was born Aug. 24, 1946 in Rapid City, S.D. He attended schools in South Dakota and Montana. He married Judy Hagen in Stevensville, Aug. 17, 1965. He worked for lumber mills in Missoula before moving to Washington where he worked for Boeing Co. He returned to Missoula and worked for Bakke Motor Co. He then moved to Sequim, Wash. where he ran a second-hand store. Mr. Berdine most recently worked for the Nelson Tool Co. in Port Angeles, Wash. He was a member of the VFW in Sequim. Mr. Berdine is survived by his wife, Judy; a son, Mike; a daughter, Louise; three brothers, Jim, Missoula, Ralph, Sequim, and Larry Magee, Roundup, Mont.; three sisters, Rene Smith, Helena, Bonnie Hagen, Missoula, Cathy Magee, Sequim; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Larry Magee, Roundup; and several nieces and nephews. Memorial service will be Wednesday, 2 p.m., in the Livingston-Malletta Chapel with the Rev. Kermit Hagen officiating. Cremation will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
On 15 July 1989, in Sequim, Clallam County, Judy Lynn Berdine married Wesley Morton Phillips.
