Mable Christine Bodine and James Rubin Steele were married Saturday evening in the Hamby Baptist Church by Rev. Roger Duck, pastor. Mr. and Mrs. R. G. Bodine are the parents of th ebride and Mr. and Mrs. S. C. Steele of Marlow, Okla. are parents of the bridegroom.

CLYDE -- James Rubin Steele, 82, passed away Saturday, January 3, 2004 at an Abilene hospital. Services will be 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 6, 2004 at the First Baptist Church in Clyde with Dr. Toby Henson officiating. Burial will follow at Elmwood Memorial Park in Abilene, under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home in Clyde. Mr. Steele was born July 17, 1921 in Marlow, OK, to the late Sam and Gertrude Steele. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII. He married Mable Bodine on August 18, 1951 at the Hamby Baptist Church in Hamby, and they enjoyed 52 years together. They lived in Abilene for many years before moving to Clyde in 1966. He worked as a truck driver for Sunset Motor Freight for 37 years and then later worked for ABF. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Clyde. Mr. Steele is survived by his wife, Mable Steele of Clyde; a son, James Roy Steele and his wife, Kimmy of Abilene; two daughters, Carolyn Vinson of Clyde and Marilyn Dulin and her husband, Jack of Clyde; two brothers, Sid Steele and his wife, Corrine of Marlow, OK, and Luther Steel and his wife, Connie of Wichita, KS; a sister, Pauline Fry and her husband, Herbert of Weatherford, OK; five granddaughters, Michelle, Mandy, Heather, Brandi and Morgan; four grandsons, Wayne, Shannon, Jacob and Michael J.; three great- granddaughters, Kristen, Breanna, and Marissa; a great-grandson on the way; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers; two sisters; a grandson, Jodie Mack Steele; and a great-granddaughter, Shyanna Steele. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Monday at Bailey Funeral Home. If desired, memorials may be made to the donor's favorite charity.

Mable Christine Bodine Steele, 92, of Clyde died Wednesday, October 5, 2022, at her home. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, October 15, 2022, at First Baptist Church of Clyde with Dr. Toby Henson officiating under the direction of Bailey Howard Funeral Home of Clyde. Burial will follow in Elmwood Memorial Park in Abilene. Visitation will be from 6:30 until 8:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Mable was born April 14, 1930, in Callahan County to Roy and Addie (Shelton) Bodine. She graduated from Abilene High School. She married James Steele in Abilene on August 18, 1951, and they moved to Clyde in 1969 and became members of First Baptist Church of Clyde. Mable was a homemaker except for ten years that she worked for Robert Hailey as a receptionist. She is survived by her three children, Carolyn Vinson of Clyde, Marilyn Dulin and husband Jack of Clyde and James Steele and wife Kimmy of Abilene; two sisters, Voncille Wellborn and husband Terry of Amarillo and Carol Foster and husband Gib of Goldsboro; nine grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren. Mable was preceded in death by her parents; her husband James; her grandson, Jodi Mac; great granddaughter, Shyanna Steele and sister, Bonnie Matthew.
