Ilion---A resident of Ilion for the last 30 years, Alfred B. Stephenson, 78, died Thursday, May 4, 1944, at the home of his daughter-in-law, Mrs. Mary Stephenson, 12 West St., after an illness of three years. Mr. Stephenson was born May 23, 1865, in Walden, son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Stephenson. He married Carrie Bodine, in Walden. She died in 1926. He was well-known in Inlet, as the operator of a newspaper stand there during the summer. At one time he operated the Capitol Bowling Alleys. Mr. Stephenson was a member of the Ilion Lodge, F&AM. Surviving are one brother, Charles, Brooklyn; and one son, Floyd, Middleville. The funeral was held Saturday, May 6, 1944 from the Whiter Funeral Home, 100 Otsego St., with the Rev. L. R. Benson officiating. Burial was in Armory Hill Cemetery.
